As a Medical Billing Service it is my job and expertise to adjust to the updates handed down by the Insurance Companies. Whether that means that they have changed your coverage, lessened your coverage (though they never sell it that way) or have a new “carve-out” to your plan that will help “better serve you”, these updates can come across as confusing or even unimportant.  It is my companies job as a Medical Billing Service (MBS…not taking away anything from the highly educated), to keep my physician getting paid and updating them on these changes.  That led me to ask the question, “Who is looking out for me (the patient)?” 

We/You need someone unbiased…is it your Doctor? I don’t think so, while he does have your health in mind, I don’t believe he will put his bank accounts health behind yours, espescially if your insurance does not pay!!  Is it your Insurance company….(waiting for the laughter to die down)…They don’t help the people that work for them let alone the people that only pay premiums…or should I say PREMIUM $$!!  The idea of “better serves you” means nothing to you and I as the patient.  Tell me, how does cutting coverage for my son’s Asthma medication “better serve me”….as was stated in the letter we received.  It doesn’t.

The purpose of this is not for me or for my family, it is for all of us!  I want you all, those that have questions about their coverage, or letters you get from your insurance company stating something has changed. I want you to post them here…to my Facebook account or my twitter page @Caramedic.  This way, we can all be better educated in knowing our coverage, leave your questions here with me. I will answer EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM! I am and this blog will serve as that unbiased angel on your shoulder. 

I will guaruntee you this, if you turn a blind eye to it all, it will bite you once that bill comes in from your doctor or when your pharmacist tells you that you have to pay retail price because the drug you have been using for years is no longer covered.  Tell me, who pays for that in the end? It’s us….
