I can’t help but get excited right before a big tournament weekend! I actually have to focus harder on a day like today to get anything accomplished! Weekend Warrior? Maybe in the minds of Society but not in my heart or soul! I still get the same butterflies and anxiety wether it was pee wee football, tossing a Javelin, and running with the Olympic Torch.
Phil Simmis, of the New York Giants, said it best, “Atheletes die twice!” Well I refuse to let my athletic life die! This is why we compete and love sport. This is what makes me not think twice when the forcast is a miserable day. When All Out Softball takes the field tomorrow, I know I will have the same butterflies, since I treat all my competitions the same! I visualize these days to a nauseum. I go over ever scenario, play, and at-bat. I do this cause that is what is in my DNA! If you are rolling your eyes at this….guess what…it’s not in yours!
When we take the field tomorrow I know we take it as underdogs. We will TAKE RESPECT with our EXECUTION AND RESULTS. We will brave the 4 hour breaks and the rain and the valleys of tournament softball. We will keep our eyes on the prize. That is what brings me back….Attitude reflects Leadership…and thats what I intend to do…LEAD.
